After all these are not military GPS accurate and never will be. Not talking GPS but a magnetic compass in a Heading Sensor puck, the principle behind the heading sensor is to show an accurate representation on which direction/heading your boat is pointing.

I have a Lappy Hewes 18’ Bayfisher so two possible spots would be on top of the console so its right next to the garmin gps and out of the way of the forward fishing deck and also has the battery the gps puck just needs 12 volt. red to positive black to negative.. the puck communicates with the trolling motor via bluetooth.
